ALI Provides Funding for SAF Research Project
Aircraft Leasing Ireland (ALI) members, including Falko, have provided funding to a new research study on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production. The research study is a collaboration between Trinity College Dublin and University of Limerick.
Conducted over four years, the aim of the project is to examine potential avenues for manufacturing SAF in Ireland developing a viable supply chain for SAF raw materials. The aviation industry has a set goal of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, for which it is widely recognised SAF will be critical to achieving the target. To help meet this goal, the European Commission has introduced legislation that requires fuel suppliers to blend increasing levels of SAF in kerosene for supply at EU airports, commencing with 2% in 2025.
The SAF research project conducted by Trinity College Dublin and University of Limerick marks a significant step forward in the search for SAF manufacturing solutions by promoting research, development and innovation, critical to enabling the production of SAF in Ireland. The initiative demonstrates the importance of collaboration between the aircraft leasing community and leading research institutes to drive meaningful change and, importantly, help the industry achieve its net zero goal by 2050.
As a member of ALI, Falko is proud to support to this SAF research project and is committed to supporting advancements that contribute to a more sustainable future for aviation.
