Sale and lease back with Delta Air Lines Inc

Falko Regional Aircraft Limited (Falko) announced in June 2020 that it will add eleven (11) Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft to its portfolio after acquiring them in a sale and leaseback transaction with Delta Air lines Inc. (Delta).

This transaction is a testament to Falko’s efficiency and ability to execute transactions in a short time frame. The transaction was successfully completed in a three-week window, providing certainty and speed of execution to Delta, who was pleased with the agility and efficiency of the Falko team.

Expansion in Regional Aircraft

With this acquisition, Falko has increased its presence in the regional aircraft space, with 130 aircraft in the segment. Falko is a major player in the regional aircraft space. The transaction has been funded with equity from the Falko Regional Aircraft Opportunities Fund II, a $650m fund closed in 2019 dedicated to investments in the regional aircraft sector. The Fund has now invested in 40 Bombardier and Embraer regional aircraft.

Importance of Delta

With this transaction, Delta has become one of Falko’s most important customers, with 25 aircraft on long-term lease. Delta is one of the world’s leading airlines which has continued to demonstrate its strong financial position despite significant market disruption due to COVID-19 in recent months. Delta is one of the airlines best positioned to weather the current COVID crisis with more that c.$20bn in unencumbered assets, $12bn in aircraft, as of March-2020 and a young and efficient fleet to be best positioned to capture profits once air traffic picks up.
